Voice: Hali
Today is Thursday, 19th of March. Whatever you are planning to do today, take a moment to commit your plans to the Lord.
Opening Sentence
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. Psalm 73:25
Psalm 25:1-10
To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, in you I trust;
let me not be put to shame;
let not my enemies exult over me.
3 Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous.
4 Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.
6 Remember your mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
for they have been from of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your steadfast love remember me,
for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
8 Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as It was in the beginning, is
now, and shall be forever. Amen.
Isaiah 11:1-10
There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
2 And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
3 And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.
He shall not judge by what his eyes see,
or decide disputes by what his ears hear,
4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,
and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.
5 Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist,
and faithfulness the belt of his loins.
6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;
and a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder’s den.
9 They shall not hurt or destroy
in all my holy mountain;
for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
10 In that day the root of Jesse, who shall stand as a signal for the peoples—of him shall the nations inquire, and his resting place shall be glorious.
This is the Word of the Lord
Thanks be to God
Shepherd Leadership
All over the world—both inside and outside the church—there is a deep longing for good leaders. Leaders who embody “the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”
We can say that the world today is in crises as powerful nations are being led by leaders with self-interests.
We long for leaders who understand our struggles and are wise in their counsel. Leaders who are able to bring about real change. Leaders whose knowledge is anchored in the fear of the Lord, who do not lead by their own strength but in humility before God, continually seeking His guidance. Leaders who know they are ultimately accountable to Him.
We long for leaders who care for the poor, the wounded, and the weak—like true shepherds. They are empathetic, compassionate and caring. And at the same time, leaders who act firmly and decisively toward bullies, the unjust, and the oppressors.
It is, in many ways, an idealised picture of leadership—one that only God Himself fulfils perfectly.
Some pastors or spiritual leaders to reflect Christ but even the best among us are imperfect. If we expect perfection, sooner or later, we will be disappointed—or we will disappoint others. Yet this should not discourage us from setting these aims before us, or from getting up again when we fail. Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, can guide us and help us grow to be more like Him.
In verses 6 to 9, Isaiah paints a poetic vision of creation restored: natural enemies living at peace, children unharmed in places of danger. No one hurts or destroys, because the whole earth is filled with the knowledge of the Lord.
Don’t we deeply long for those days to come?
Even so, come, Lord Jesus.self returns.
🌿 Thought for Lent
If you are in some leadership responsibility, take some time to meditate on Isaiah 11:2-4. Let the Lord speak to you.
Take a moment to pray for peace in the Middle East.

Only the Lamb is worthy. This song, He is worthy, which captures it.
Do you feel the world is broken?
(We do)
Do you feel the shadows deepen?
(We do)
But do you know that all the dark won’t
Stop the light from getting through?
(We do)
Do you wish that you could see it all made new?
(We do)
Is all creation groaning?
(It is)
Is a new creation coming?
(It is)
Is the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst?
(It is)
Is it good that we remind ourselves of this?
(It is)
Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He was David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy of this?
He is
Does the Father truly love us?
(He does)
Does the Spirit move among us?
(He does)
And does Jesus, our Messiah hold forever those He loves?
(He does)
Does our God intend to dwell again with us?
(He does)
Is anyone worthy?
Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
From every people and tribe
Every nation and tongue
He has made us a kingdom and priests to God
To reign with the Son
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
Is He worthy of this?
He is!
Is He worthy? Is He worthy?
He is!
He is!

About This Daily Devotion
This weekday devotion is drawn from the Morning Office and is part of a project initiated by Revd Canon Terry Wong, with contributions from clergy and members across various parishes. Each entry includes selected readings from the appointed Psalm and another Scripture passage, accompanied by a reflection and prayer. An audio option is also available, often ending with a hymn or song. We encourage you to both read and listen.
Our aim is to help Anglicans engage more deeply with our rich liturgical tradition, while meeting the devotional needs of today’s believers. This project began on Ash Wednesday 2025 and is offered on weekdays only.
