Voice: Bernice
Today is Thursday, 3rd of September. Take a moment to be still in His presence.
Psalm 143
1Hear my prayer, O Lord ;
give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!2 Enter not into judgment with your servant,
for no one living is righteous before you.3For the enemy has pursued my soul;
he has crushed my life to the ground;
he has made me sit in darkness like those long dead.4Therefore my spirit faints within me;
my heart within me is appalled.5 I remember the days of old;
I meditate on all that you have done;
I ponder the work of your hands.6 I stretch out my hands to you;
my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. Selah7 Answer me quickly, O Lord !
My spirit fails!
Hide not your face from me,
lest I be like those who go down to the pit.8 Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.9 Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord !
I have fled to you for refuge.10 Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God!
Let your good Spirit lead me
on level ground!11 For your name’s sake, O Lord , preserve my life!
In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble!12And in your steadfast love you will cut off my enemies,
and you will destroy all the adversaries of my soul,
for I am your servant.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and shall be forever. Amen.
Praying Psalm 143 in our words…
Hear my prayer, O God.
I come asking for mercy—not because I have earned it, not because I am good, and not because I can claim it as my right, but because You are good and faithful.
Do not bring me into judgment, O Lord, for no one living could stand innocent before You.
The troubles I face press upon me constantly, day after day. I feel crushed to the ground, abandoned in the darkness and left among those long forgotten. I feel alone and unseen.
My strength is failing. Emotionally and spiritually, I am exhausted. Fear and sadness have overwhelmed my heart.
Yet I remember all that You have done. I meditate on Your works and consider what Your hands have accomplished. Even in this season of darkness and dryness, I reach out my hands to You like thirsty ground longing for rain.
Answer me quickly, O Lord, for my spirit is faint. Do not hide Your face from me.
When morning comes, let me hear once again of Your unfailing love, for I have placed my trust in You. Show me how to live and where I should go, because I am completely dependent on You.
Deliver me from the darkness, for I flee to You, my light and my refuge.
Teach me to do what pleases You, for You are my God. May Your Holy Spirit lead me onto level ground and guide me along a firm and steady path.
Revive me, O Lord, for the glory of Your name. Rescue me, not because I am righteous, but because You are righteous. In Your faithful love, silence everything that seeks to destroy my soul.
I belong to You.
I am Your child.
I place my life in Your hands.
Amen.
In closing, be blessed by this version of Psalm 23, sung by Phil Wickham and Tiffany Hudson.
The Lord is my shepherd
There’s nothing I need
You lead me to the safest places
You lead me to the safest places
To walk in the meadow
And lie by the stream
You meet me in the quiet places
You meet me in the quiet places
Your goodness and Your mercy
Will follow me
All the days of my life
All the days of my life
And I’ll dwell in Your house
For eternity
I’ll be there by Your side
I’ll be there by Your side
Though I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death
I don’t have to fear no evil
For I know that You are with me
With oil of blessing
You cover my head
You fill me to overflowing
My cup is overflowing
And Your goodness and Your mercy
Will follow me
All the days of my life
All the days of my life
And I’ll dwell in Your house
For eternity
I’ll be there by Your side
I’ll be there by Your side
All the days of my life
All the days of my life
You prepare a table before me
Right in front of my enemies
You’re the shepherd of my soul
You lead me in the right direction
My comfort and my protection
You’re the shepherd of my soul
And Your goodness and Your mercy
Will follow me
All the days of my life
All the days of my life
And I’ll dwell in Your house
For eternity
I’ll be there by Your side
I’ll be there by Your side
All the days of my life
All the days of my life
All the days of my life
All my life
I’ll be there by Your side
All the days of my life
